Star Wars Corellian Vessel by AdamKop Star Wars Corellian Vessel by AdamKop

A poster-styled image based on a Corellian Vessel that I designed a few months ago. The 3D model was never fully finished so I decided to create an abstract image with it.

Nice design! I like the lines, definitely something that I could see in Star Wars.

Thanks :D The original model looks pretty simple, but I decided to go with a crazy "artsy" look and it actually appears better than it really is.

Would have been nice to see the finished item on this mean little ship! If your previous work is any guide, it would have made Han Solo choke! ;)

I will look into it once I finish my other Star Wars ships. It was a bit too complex for texturing before but now I think I will handle it.

Thanks :) From what I remember, I just rendered the base model, added red paint and engines glow in Photoshop and then applied a paint brush filter.

I'm happy to hear that :) I hope you come up with some cool designs ! Be sure to look at old 80s/90s designs because they are a lot better inspiration than my one ship :D

I'll see about it but I can't promise anything. It's a pretty detailed mesh and texturing process would take a lot of time.

I just pushed a rendered image of the 3D model through photoshop's "Cutout" filter ("Artistic" set). I don't remember the exact settings I used though.

Very very nice. Certainly A ship I would like to have if I wanted a fast, mean ship capable of outrunnnig & outgunning imperial customs ships

Thank you very much ! That was the idea of making a fast and and more aggressive design than the Millenium Falcon.

Glad to hear that :) The Falcon was truly a wonderful design since you can do almost anything with just a little bit of modifying.

I think you nailed it. Well done fresh & orginal yet in spirit of SW. A rare combination indeed.

Yeah the ship turned out the way it did probably because I didn't think about any details and logical explanation to the shape. Star Wars was always more about looks than reasonable tech so it looks like that slapping a few basic shapes together works better for that universe.
In the beginning it was composed out of a box (which turned into main hull), two halves of a flat cylinder (engines) and two smaller ones that made the cockpit hull and turret housing.

It bears slight resemblances to Republic Cruiser (the "winglets" at both sides of the central tube resemble those of RC at the begining of Ep1) and YT-2400 (the central tube) which are both corellian engineering corporation ships. (I don't know if its intentional even if not it was a nice tip of hat to that traditon)

My design "bantha fodder" is a of a different breed but yours is much more closer to SW designs

Yeah all of this is intentional. I actually looked at old McQuarrie's designs and tried to understand his drawing style. Basically I started with the most simple shapes that resembled the classics and then started adding details also by examining the other ships.
Will take a look at your ship right away :)
