Star Wars Corellian ship on Tatooine 3D Commission by AdamKop Star Wars Corellian ship on Tatooine 3D Commission by AdamKop

Where to start? The setting is pretty realistic, the sand colored background really brings out the ship. The shading is perfect. The Corellian ship is highly detailed and the angle is esthethically very good, it helps give the impression of a real snapshot However, the focus of the scene is general, in a real picture the objects in the background would look more blurry. Althought the setting for the landing is not original (it resembles Tatooine) it is quite well pictured and gives a good image of the place, the distances between the buildings are adecuately placed. I would recommend to include creatures (human or non-human) strolling around to create a more realistic picture (the sun is not at it's highest peak so it's more likely the inhabitants will go out during this time). Great job with the shading and the details! Impressive.

This ship is a YT-1300L; the letters L, C, and R indicate the position of the cockpit capsule. The Falcon was a YT-1300R, meaning that the cockpit capsule was on the right side.

Yes and no; there are three versions of this class, but not three versions of just this one ship.

would you be referring to YT-1300F, YT-1300P & YT-1300FP; freighter, passenger and frieghter/passenger?

wookiepedia  doesn't say much about the letter designations, L,R,C, it did mention the cockpit layout.

so, this is probably YT-1300FL.

Yeah with some changes to shapes and hull elements. It's basically a YT-1300 that went a different way :)

I'm not 100% familiar with the classification numbers for each ship type but I do love the many different shapes they can take.

Well YT-1300 is the Falcon and it's the only one worth remembering :) There are literally dozens of modifications in the extended universe and even more created by fans, so it's impossible to count them all.

Most of the one's by fans don't look right, they all have big cannons or spikes or fins or something that shouldn't be there. Some of them however are good enough to be official.

Yeah most of the kitbashes are kinda bad, as people just want to create something overpowered. I am creating a lot of ships for RPGs and such and it seems that most of the ships can look good, but people just have no skills to do so.

Well, I'll be a nice change for you then wont I? I do like to make one overpowered ship as a main bad guy but the rest are always either normal power or slightly underpowered.

Well, there's nothing wrong with a powerful ship, but some of the ideas that people throw around are pretty crazy :D I've already seen ships with 12 engines, turbolaser turrets on a fighter and other crazy stuff. It's not overpowered, just ridiculous :D

I like this.  Clearly you've done a few variants of the general YT-1300 design.  As one old tramp freighter captain told a younger crewman one time: "Dere's no such 'ting as a 'stock' freighter anymore, boy!"    The YT-1300 is a general layout design, whose appearances usually are radically changed by the whims/needs of the captain owning her.  You've demonstrated this beautifully in your art.  Keep up the excellence. :)

Thanks :) I like doing YT freighters as even though I follow the blueprints, I only look at them at later stages when adding details, so that everything seems more natural and chaotic even. It's cool that the original Star Wars ships were pretty random when it comes to details, so everyone who models them will most likely get different results.

Yeah, I may try my hand at modeling the Falcon first, and then trying my own YT-1300 variants later down the road. :)

BrainlessGenie pretty much summed it up. A crew member or two near the ship to give an impression of the comparative scale and perhaps some Jawas and/or droids. Otherwise excellent work! :jedi:

No, it's not. The YT-1300 comes in a lot of variants because it's modular. This is one variant.

Thanks :D It was quite a challenge to get the warm look down, as I never did it before and desert doesn't look the same in stills as it does in a movie shot. I just oversaturated the whole thing and overlayed a bunch of reds, oranges and yellows :P

I know the feeling. I feel most comfortable working with hues of blue. I have to force myself away from that habit and go with warmer colors. It certainly isn't easy, especially that with more light, details can't be left to the imagination!

The Han Solo character was "correlian" and won the Millenium Falcon in a "poker game/bet/race equivalent" from the Lando
Calrissian character. No where in the original Star Wars Bibleīs 3 chapters did anyone say the Millenium Falcon was "correllian" . Admittedly it was a long time ago i saw/read the bible. You all in here sounds like heretics/full of it. The drawing is good, but its not "corellian" whatever that is.

I'm glad to hear that you like it, but Corellian refers to the manufacturer, which for the YT freighters is Corellian Engineering Corporation. I'm not an expert when it comes to the Star Wars lore, as I gather my information from the internet mostly, but it seemed pretty clear to me.

Yeah it's a mirrored version with alterations made to the hull as well - palting is different and all the intrusions are covered up.

Good job... They don't really address in the movie what all that vast interior space is usually used for...

yeah that makes sense, i think its the asymmetrical shape , probably one of the best things about the design of the ship for the movies, and one of the most fun things about spacecraft design, can make them into very odd unbalanced shapes if you want too

the design of the freighter is modular, the cockpit can be on the left right ,or even in the center, all layouts i've seen are awesome

I knew about the modularity of the YT-1300, but i did not know this feature went this far. Customization is a prominent feat in corellian ships in general anyways.

Are you talking about the books with each page a more and more deeper slice of the ship with holes in it? I know that too. But i never realized that even the cockpit module can be resituated to another location. The YT-2400 had the same right side basic config, only the 2000 sporting a center mount as standard.

love a good cross section, one of my faves a child was the thunderbirds one,

as far as i'm aware the 1300 had optional center ( though it seems this was unpopular as almost all Named ships had the right side configuration ) which was then used on the YT-1930 as standard
( i also found this rather odd modified 1300 model of the name Steel Fist [link] )

other models with center arrangement that i know of are the 1000, 1760, and possibly the 2550 ( though there is very little info on this model)

sadly no, it seems there are limited pics of the ships around, many are from books and as a result have no picture :(

wookiepedia is a decent place to find links to the sources, they have a lot of the info on the YT series , the 1300 has the most text written about it
though i really like the YT 2400, that deserved more of a showing in the star wars universe
