While the theme of the piece is a very basic one seen in both combat aircraft and science-fiction art, it is also classic and dynamic, lending a sense of action to the craft portrayed.

The fighters themselves are a fascinating combination of classic Star Wars ship design and the artist's own unique vision and breathe new life into the tried and true vision that we have of Star Wars.

Perhaps the best part of the piece is the skill with which the artist executes their digital style. It at once looks very photo-realistic and fantastical with the shadows falling where you expect them to on the starfighters as they maneuver above the planet below.

The angling of the fighters implies imminent action as they deploy their s-foils for upcoming combat, whether in the atmosphere of the planet below or in the space above it.

In summation, the piece is a wonderfully crafted portrayal of a classic theme any fan of the material will be familiar with.

Well first off, this is a excellent portrait, The space background is beautiful, with the stars shining in the background as the starfighters fly towards the next planet ready to aid the rebellion. It's a nice spin on a classic Star wars ship with modern work. The different shape of the fighters show how innovative Incom can be when designing X-wings. It just showed to me how far The star wars universe can come when it come to creating capital ships of massive size, starfighters that fly faster than the speed of sound and many others that have a purpose in the galaxy.

Reminds me of the Bird of Prey...from Star Trek. I love that design.

I really like how the X-Wings look a little more bulky, making them look as durable as they're supposed to be, and they still look like they really can fly very well.

Thanks :) The original X-Wing is pretty beefy as well so just tried to stay true to the original concepts.

Oh I dig these, they definitely feel like something that would have existed if they had kept making Star Wars flicks into the 80s and 90s.

Actually these are successors to the X-Wing and E-wing. They're not that far into the future though, so mostly an upgrade to the designs.

Oh! Not bad designs!
In the Age of Empires Star Wars Clone game: Star Wars Battlegrounds, there were an X-wing model with 3 pairs of wings rather two. The extra pair was located halfway between the two opened ones. There were also anAdvanced Tie Bomber with 5!! pods (two twin vertically arranged ones both side of the cockpit) rather the standard two!

Haha these are some crazy designs :D I remember playing Battlegrounds a long time ago, but I was in Rogue Squadron mood at the time so didn't get anywhere further with it...

The six winged x-wing might be the ARC-170 fighter.

Nope because Star Wars Battlegrounds was before the 3rd movie.
And it is a Rebel alliance unit.

These are "wings" in the Star Wars Universe that fold out for attack - often to bring weapons into a particular formation, exposure, or in some cases to regulate heat.

Look up the X-Wing, the V-Wing, The B-Wing, the Jedi Interceptor, the Arc-170 and the Sith Infiltrator.

Hope this helps :)

They're fan designs of legacy-era ships, based on the X and E-Wings.
