I'm not a fan of spacefighter ships, but this one looks really great.
Maybe it's because there is no useless gadgets mounted on it. Its simplicity makes it look really good IMO.

Thanks :) Simplicity was part of the design and I decided to focus on the sleek looks rather than random details.

Well it definitely looks worthy of it if you were to ask me. It keeps true to the Original Trilogy look but still looks modern and more advanced than the fighters in the Prequel Trilogy.

Great job! Once again, awesome sense of speed, and the design is excellent. I like the slightly dirty look and the aerodynamic view. I would have totally loved to see this in one of the recent movies. I can see Obi-Wan Kenobi climbing into its cockpit.

Thanks :D It was a pretty simple concept but I'm glad to hear that it actually turned out better than I imagined it. Texturing was one of my priorities, as the model itself was pretty easy. I had some fun to be had with composition, as a lot of tuning was required for the proper dirt and gloss exposure, but I guess it was worth it.
As for Kenobi flying, he probably didn't get into anything after the Clone Wars era ... he hates flying after all :D

Simple usually works much better, and the more the form reminds the eye of currently technology, the more believable it gets!

I've gotta say, your ships are totally among the most lovely and professional ships I've seen in a long while. I mean, that's the reason why I've got you on my watch. You never do anything half-assed, and you texture everything perfectly making each piece seem that much more believable. It's great work, it really is.
That said, something doesn't feel right. Personally I'd say it's because you're a minimalist and really go for the sleek style you've got here. The main reason why I can track this back to the Star Wars universe is its tell-tale silhouette and and colour scheme, but when looking on it as a whole I'd say it lacks the gribble that I've come to love about the original designs.
True enough, you could argue that the original ships and your designs would hail from two different eras, and your ships wouldn't have the on-the-mend look and feel to them simply because they're new. The Clone Wars Y-Wing would be an excellent example of how a ship can look early in its history in contrast to the ships we know from the original trilogy, so yes, I see that. On the other hand however, when looking at ships from the original trilogy they were still pretty gribbled out even if they'd just come out of the factory (the Imperial TIE-fighters being a case in point).
Of course I wouldn't compare this ship's level of detail with any of the larger Star Wars ships, as they would have more stuff on them then anything simply because such a large vessel would need details like that to give it a sense of scale, like the Super Stardestroyer which essentially sports a city on its superstructure, or the Death Star that looks deceptively smooth despite being littered with towers, trenches and turrets.
Comparing these fighters with cars, these ships are more along the lines of supercars, like Mclarens, Ferraris and Lambourghinis. They go fast and they're beautiful. The original ships however are more like Humvees, Jeeps, tanks, tractors and Marauders. Work horses out to do a job and not necessarily look pretty.
Essentially they're covered in things and devices we can only guess why exist, but that's just part of the charm and excitement.

All that aside, I still enjoy your designs, and I outright envy your ability to make them. I have myself redesigned many of these ships and tried my hand at modelling them, but whenever you've done one I've done earlier it's been hands down many times better than what I've been trying to do. While I might not agree on everything, I do appreciate what you do and think it's absolutely amazing work.

Thanks for that comment :)
I gotta say that I would love to greeble the hell out of this ship, but it was commissioner's idea to create a fighter with a rather smooth looking hull, as the ship was supposed to be quite some time in the future.
My next Star Wars ship will be based on the original trilogy's rough and cheap vessels, and it will surely feature more small details and uneven surfaces. Sometimes adding these elements doesn't really fit the initial idea for the model and in cases like this one I prefer to make sure surfaces are smooth and panels cover up the whole model rather than attach elements for the sake of visual fidelity.

Dude, I really wish they would use these designs in the new movie! I don't know if you had much say in the design of this one, but I really like the top-bottom asymmetry of the wings and the fact that you have only one "intake".

Thanks :D I was given only a text description of the ship so I could design pretty much everything, I just looked into the existing ships for inspiration.

Nice concept. I really like the colors you chose. It looks streamlined and the oval shaped intakes were a nice touch. Kinda gave it a state of the art look. Very sleek, yet powerful and perfect for mass production. Also, really captures that good "old" star wars feel.

Yeah, and I like the blue cause it looks like an x fighter produced by a company ready sell a million units to the highest offer. If the rebels bought it than I'd imagine the scheme would change to red for example. Also the engines and guns look like they'd pack a little more punch than an x-wing. It just looks like it could be the perfect successor to the x-wing or a less expensive and more efficient replacement. It definitely fits right in that era in my opinion. The background motion also has that classic star wars movie intensity btw.
