An Imperial Corvette that I designed some time ago. I only have a sketch of it available : [link]

Thanks :D The colors are warmer than the original trilogy but I tried to keep the style of interior and worn-out look of the elements true to the old movies.

Thanks :) I have no set date for the ship, so I guess it could be a Rebel ship during the Empire times and belong to the New Republic after that. It's very rough, so I guess it would be better as a ship to battle the Imperials.

Sounds awesome! To me, I think it could work in either era, Old Republic or New.

When I look at the series I wonder how they do so in small spaces
I visited military bases and I mounted in airplanes it's really tight for the pilot.

Yeah I remember when I was young and got into an F-16 for the first time. I was extremely short but still there was something odd about the cockpit that wasn't really comfortable. The glass canopy was scary as well :D

Really wouldn't think the HUD would be so dominant and blocking. Even if it is see-through.

I mean all around a great piece, but still the cockpit looks compact as it is and then the HUD's right there.

The HUD is also part of the targeting system so it would display the targets in front of you that you could blast. It is set for scanning at the moment and displays vital elements of the enemy vessel :)

Thanks :) The asteroids are pretty rough, I have to agree. I didn't have anything good available and I had to improvise. I think I should blur them out to death so that no one can see them :D

Just my opinion, but it seems like the display is taking up a bit much of the forward view.

That's the idea :)
I always thought the pilots would be more dependant on the displays than their own eyes. This is a type of scanner screen and the battle display would have a view simply displaying what's on the front (targeting computer style), with some extra targeting reticule on it.
Here's my inspiration : [link]
I loved the fact that you couldn't see much apart from the front :D

Oh yes, the asteroids and space station were quite nice, but they weren't as concerning as the potential lack of awareness. While I agree a pilot would be more dependent upon sensors than visual stimuli, that already is truth in modern air combat. And we currently have the technology to project such displays on a HUD, helmet visor, or cockpit canopy to provide such information without obstructing the pilot's view of the exterior, overmuch. [link]

Useful for when sensors are jammed by spatial phenomena or simply went kaput and you have to nurse a damaged ship back for landing.

I see no reason why the future would require a step backwards in combat information integration.

Star Wars took place a long time ago (in a galaxy far away) :D
But on a serious note, I think those clunky cockpits are part of the original trilogy's charm. I just can't imagine myself playing a Star Wars game where you have everything on your HUD and the only thing you are left with is a sleek glass cockpit ...

This ship is less advanced :D It would act the same way as the targeting display on the TIE - being up there all the time and acting as the targeting reticule as well.

Less advanced doesn't mean it has to be less sophisticated! We all know the TIEs were designed by the accountants.

Programming never held my interest. Did it back at school and I can give you a batch script for stuff, but anything beyond that... naa. I need to see the result of what I do in real time and despite my imagination, code doesn't translate into a finished product for me in my head, so... no can do. ;)

Yeah same for me. I remember writing some stupid programs that answered questions, did calculations etc but it was only text. Text is not a product for me :D

Not really. At least with batch scripts you get an immediate output and whether or not it's working, but anything more complicated... naa. I rather look for a malcolored pixel than a missing semicolon!

Well I don't care much about scripts because I would rather have it all ready for me to use it :D If only someone came up with a customizable space simulator, I would gladly use it. In the meantime I can only watch my renders and pretend they move ...

I have no choice in terms of scripts. If you work in IT you gotta use batch scripts (and the likes) to automate startup routines in a multi user environment... but other than that, naa. A little bit of webcode perhaps.

And yeah, a customizable flight sim... especially sci-fi themed... I'd be all over that!

Ah I only use scripts for photoshop post-processing. Makes adding extra effects much easier :D
I worked in IT during summers, but I just typed in stuff from paper printouts and fixed printers ... the only script I used was "try turning it off and on again" :P

Ya hoo, sweet work. I agree with HandofManos, each one is getting better and better.

Wouldn't it be awesome to have like a Rouge Squadron or X-wing vs Tie Fighter game with your fighters and cockpits.

Watch out for the potato on your right. Yes one of the asteroids in Empire Strikes Back was actually a real potato. :lmao:

Thanks :D Those old simulators are the main inspiration for this one. I always loved to use cockpit view in Rogue Squadron series because they really made you feel like you were in the game. There's nothing beating Rebel Strike (GC) though - the view from an AT-AT was the best thing one could ever get from a Star Wars game !

I unfortunately never had or played Rebel Strike, though I did play the original to death got all gold medals on all the missions and had unlocked all the ships. I have never completed a game so complete before or since. I used to like the Falcon it was big, slow and could take a beating.

Well if you could play it on the GC or Wii then you're in for quite a ride :) Rebel Strike (third) isn't as good as the Rogue Leader (second in the series), mainly due to mediocre character levels, but they're short and vehicles are just as fun to use.
I got all golds on each and every game in the series - Rogue Squadron 1,2,3 and Battle for Naboo. I think these games are the best Star Wars games ever, because I could replay a mission 20 times just to shave off one second on the completion time record and I was never bored.
Falcon was sure a great ship - I loved to use it on Rogue Leader to destroy the Second Death Star. Too bad Slave I was really bad - slow, big and easy to shoot down ...
