To begin with, it's a gorgeous design, thru and thru. Lots of nice little details that are both pleasing to the eye and capture the imagination of any scifi fan.
The unfortunate departure in the design however comes not from the design itself, but the chosen point of existence in the timeline. Certainly a ship of this size would be welcome to the SW's universe, but the silhouette is a striking departure from anything of the era. The 45 degree swoop of the wings are sleek and elegant, and the rounded turrets look fully functional and deadly, but neither of these elements hint back to a unified and functional fleet design. To elaborate, the wings were perhaps meant to be reminiscent of bombers and interceptors, but again, lack any design element that would bind the two together. Similarly, Imperial turrets are bold and blocky, while these bear muted planes.
The pallet used and defining lines are clearly Star Wars, however this is a design I feel is better suited to the likes of the Old Republic.
