If you were to ask me, this is your best TIE Fighter yet. :)

Thanks :D I had a lot of fun making this one so I can agree on this. It's similar to my older TIEs, but it has a more realistic look to it, as the plastic TIEs didn't look all that menacing.

Yeah well if I could describe this in one word it WOULD be menacing. :D

Very nice design, appears to show elements of all TIE design eras (KotOR, TOR, Clone Wars and Civil War).
I especially like the flying wing configuration. It looks like it could handle atmospheric flight better then most TIE models.

Thanks :) The design itself is more based on my old design, but I'm inspired by everything I see so the other designs also took their part. I always thought that the initial TIEs were just made because they were cheap and after that the Empire took a different direction with their shapes.

Yes, AFAIK the design philosophy behind the TIE fighter was that of a cheap mass producable combat support craft, deployable in large numbers to overwhelm any opposition.
Turns out, while it was indeed cheap, the loss of pilots costs more in money and experience than the cost savings made up.

They could just clone them with pilot training memories in them :D It seems rather weird that the Clone Wars were constantly supplied with soldiers but after that the Empire wasn't as high in numbers.

According to official sources, after the Clone Wars, an era of relative peace led to the retirement of most clone trooper. Plus, the emperor ordered the creation of armies with real humans, which we later know as Storm Troopers.
The same case was with pilots, all the TIE fighters shot down by Han Solo, Luke &Co. were manned by humans, not clones!

It sort of reminds me of a TIE Avenger crossed with a Scimitar Assault Bomber. The TIE Avenger was another version of the TIE Advanced, the latter being the custom-made TIE fighter that Darth Vader piloted during the Battle of Yavin. Oh, and the TIE Avenger was in TIE Fighter, the second LucasArts flight simulator. I also have the TIE Avenger on a trading card from Decipher, the company that made the Star Wars CCG series. Fantastic spin on the TIE series of fighter ships!

I did. The Avenger is featured there too, but you can only fly it in the simulator (and multiplayer), not in the campain.

Oh, OK then. I thought the TIE Avenger was one of my favorite non-film TIE fighters, along with the TIE Defender.

Then you played TIE Fighter with all expansions. Me too. Oh, and before i forget: the Avenger, but not the Defender, appeared in X-Wing versus TIE-Fighter. I played that too. But it had no campain mode.

Actually, I never played the expansions for TIE Fighter; only the main game. But towards the end of the original TIE Fighter, I played as the TIE Defender. I have heard of X-wing vs. TIE Fighter, but never played it. I heard in that same game you can play as a Z-95 Headhunter, the predecessor to the X-wing, used by mercenaries and smugglers.

Right on spot, yes. The ancient Headhunter...
And the Expansion to TIE Fighter was a campain under the command of Admiral Thrawn to hunt down a traitor Grand Admiral named Zarin. Zarin Used the power of the Defender to create his own empire, giving the player a new craft, the imperial Missle Boat, to hunt down Zarins Defenders.
Like the Defender, the Missle Boat is not present in XvT, but you can play all these fighters in X-Wing Alliance: Headhunter, Defender, Missle Boat ect.
