This is a very good piece on many levels.

ship design: excellent vision of OT with the right dose of prequel trilogy feel in the mix.

The landing pad: excellently rendered The only thing in the whole picture that I can critisize without making a fool of myself is the lights on the landing pad. It seems that only the right one of the closest two is producing any light the rest seems broken down. (Maybe it is intentional to give a desolate feel but it does not feel that way with the rest of the platform in pretty good condition.)

The background: There is the"bespin feel" yet original in color theme. it is clearly not Bespin but a similar gas giant. To give it a more original feel artist could enlarge the clouds and add a few distant facilities like the fighter's landing pad belongs to add the cherry on top of this delicious pie.

Overall it is damn GOOD!

I like your version if the TIE Fighter better than the original.
Fighters are supposed to be big, the X-wing and Y wing were actually supposed to be bigger but smaller models were built because using the larger models on set made shooting the Yavin hangar scenes in A New Hope too difficult and expensive.

So awesome! I can't wait till you start producing 3D scale models of these. I'd buy one of these TIE Fighters in a heartbeat, provided it's in a defined scale (1:72 would be my preferred scale).

Thanks ! The pad was originally designed to be an Imperial logo but I changed that at the last moment :)

Both elegant and threatening, it looks like it's built for speed - even when docked.

(Mind if I borrow it as a "future TIE Fighter" visual aid for a tabletop RPG?)

Great landing pad design, compliments the work on the TIE fighter nicely...

Thanks :) I based it on the TIE's cockpit and Empire's logo, byt having the platform base on a 6-sided object.

Nicely done - both the ship and the landing pad, and both in terms of design and render quality. great work!

This is the picture I was hoping to use.
The character in the story (an ex-slave girl) has gained incredible powers and is helping to fend off an attack from a rival faction. At this point in the story a bounty hunter sent by the sith arrives and kidnaps her.

Ah then it should fit the story pretty well - in Force Unleashed Starkiller also used an Imperial vessel.

And it can even land: proof of an elite imperial fighter a cut above a standard issue TIE. ;)

Which would have wrecked it, if it wasn't built to land at all. I wouldn't be surprised if its chief test pilot defected with it, though. ;)

Haha yeah :D As for the landings, even the traditional TIE could be landed on the tips of its wings, as long as you take the Rogue Squadron series as legitimate material.

wow that ship is bigger then I thought : /
I'm calculating the ship size to the little walkway and the high of the rails

:iconadamkop:
AdamKop Featured By Owner May 1, 2012  Student Digital Artist
It's not bigger than a standard TIE fighter. The handrails actually seem smaller than they really are, because they are floating above the walkway :)

Thanks :) I wanted the background to be very simple and not get in the way of the render. Also, I didn't want to spend much time working on it, since it's a rather basic project.

Thanks. Originally it was all rather grey, with the TIE being glossy silver and platform light brown. I applied about 6 color overlays to the image to achieve the look.
