Yet another new Star Wars TIE fighter design from me. This one is based a bit on the Royal Guard TIE which I modeled some time ago. It's meant to be more advanced and multi-purpouse than a standard TIE.
That's awesome I'd imagine it would probably serve well as a long range multirole fighter for the Empire in order to keep up with the Rebellion's T-65s, somehow it's shape actually seems a little better suited to atmospheric flight than the standard TIE.
Yeah since it's set in era before the Empire has spread its stations and carriers all around the galaxy, long-range and stand-alone vessels were more important for them. It's also meant to be an indirect continuation of the ships that the Republic used so it's more similar to the vessels that Rebels adopted (Incom and others).
Great design Adam, up to your usual high standards. However I feel this is more of a prequel design to the TIE fighter, maybe something they produced before the TIE during that 19 year gap between ep3 and 4.
I look forward to seeing this one modelled. I may do a low poly version of this one as well, after you get your own done and get orthos done too.
Thanks I guess that the shape is more similar to the Jedi Starfighter from Episode 3 so it could be some kind of a connector, getting Empire ready for mass-produced aircraft. Shoot me up your email address and I will send you the orthos for the Star Wars ships and some of the old Trek ships that you wanted because I think I finally found them on an old CD
I look at it as a more basic design to the TIE and considering the Empire had 19 years to develop TIE fighters I thought there might be something, a fighter or some sort between the V-wing and TIE Fighter. Something that could bridge the two designs and this is one of those designs I think that would work extremely well in that role.
Yeah I guess it could be a ship set before the Ep. IV. The Republic had a really big fleet of fighters and seeing them all gone in just a few years and be replaced by some mass-produced suicide-machines isn't really cool
It's possible, but it could also be possible to be a replacement to the TIE series, boosting heavier defences as after the Battle of Endor, the Imperials could no longer afford to replace their ships and pilots as they did when they were in power.
Yeah a possible prototype for the TIE series perhaps. Something that wasn't mass produced but later produced when it was found to be a more defensive type of fighter, much better suited to the downsized empire.
The V-wing would be a good idea but Empire didn't pay much attention to safety in their ships so costs were kept down at all ... cost The ARC was made by the Incom and as far as I remember the owners escaped with X-wing plans and destroyed everything so that the Empire couldn't take it. I think that was written in one of the Star Wars books so should be fairly accurate.
I think the reason why all that happened is the Empire nationalized all the corporations to prevent the Trade Federation take II from happening, and since another company got the big military contract the guys at Incom were just not happy.
Yeah the wings are similar but I was actually messing around with my older TIEs when doing those wings Oh and in the end, the Jedi Starfighter shares a lot of similarities with the TIEs - the cockpit front and wings
Yeah although some connections were made too fast - the Venators being all white, the Lambda-esque shuttle etc. I hope Clone Wars will make some more of those connections in future episodes to make the design changes more bearable.
I agree, yeah the entire episode 3 movie was rushed, from start to finish. To be honest I felt it was the most poorly done movie of the lot, it screwed up more than it was supposed to uncover. I just hope when the live action tv series starts in a couple of years that they'll tell the time between episode 3 and 4 and do the quality we came to expect from star wars movies.
Yeah I want to see what they can come up with the new series, but from what I heard they want to invest a lot in CGI characters so I don't know what to think of it - there's a chance too much money will go to the graphics because it has to be photorealistic ...
Yes, Lucus stated he is trying to make TV production cheaper as he wants the same effects in the series as in the movies. I just hope they don't ignore story for pretty visuals, that was the problem with episode 3.
Yep unfortunately big battles tend to get in front of the storytelling. That's what I like about Clone Wars and I hope that it will be continued in the new show - episodes of epic battles and then series full of politics, character development etc. I know that kids don't like it but I actually enjoy all of the story intrigues a lot more than mindless shooting
